The Road to Here

I can't help but think to myself sometimes, "How did I get here?" Everyone has their own path and journey they must travel to make them who they are and what they become. I, however, have taken many well traveled and sometimes very bad roads to get to where I am. It all seems to bring me back to the same place; doing what I love. Being an event planner.

I have to admit, I have always been drawn to events. I always had this vision, as a young child, that I would grow up and throw these extravagant dinner parties. You know, like the wonderful parties you see in movies. I seem to have a bit of flair and a passion for the dramatic. Similar to Audrey Hepburn and her glamorous life. Though I can say that she probably was a master at throwing a great party. With all of that said, I found myself in love with coordinating events; even if it is for other people.

It brings joy to my life to see others having fun in the moment, whether extravagant or small. It's the small moments that you see pure happiness. For instance, the upcoming birth of a baby. Who doesn't love to celebrate bringing a new life into this world. The glow the mother has, the happiness you see on friends and family members faces; it becomes an overwhelming orb of emotion. Or even the celebration of graduating from college; a place you have worked so hard to get that degree from and show the world what you have to offer. To let that all out and bring together those whom supported your dreams and stood by you through all of it, becomes a great vision indeed.

And who can forget that truly marvelous moment when you get to witness a groom seeing his bride for the very first time, walking down the aisle. That, by far, is my favorite moment. The radiant expression of love and happiness all seen with one look. Magical! To be a part of these moments really makes the hard work I do all worth it. I wouldn't trade it for the world.
